Possible reasons and quick checks
Driver or Software Issue
Outdated or missing drivers are a frequent cause of setup failures, especially after a system update.
- If the router or modem was recently changed, confirm the printer firmware is up to date.
- Look for any unusual flashing lights or error indications on the printer display.
- Check the printer screen for error codes or warning icons.
- Install the correct driver or let your operating system auto-install it via Device Manager.
Network or Wi-Fi Connectivity
Make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network (not a guest or isolated network). Confirm the SSID and password, and try a router reboot if necessary.
Cable Connections & Hardware Reset
Check USB/Ethernet cables, power connections and perform a safe hardware restart. Look for any visible hardware faults before retrying setup.
Firewall or Security Restrictions
Temporary firewall or security settings can block discovery and printing. Temporarily disable strict firewall rules or allow the printer on the network.
